The Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and the Regional Government will open to the public some of the main public buildings on Monday, May 20, from 3 PM to 6 PM as part of the celebrations of the Day of the Azores.
The buildings that will be open to the public next Monday include the seat of the Regional Parliament and the gardens of the official residence of the President of the Legislative Assembly in Horta, the headquarters of the Presidency of the Regional Government as well as of several Regional Secretariats on the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira and Faial.
By decision of the Azorean Government, the buildings and surrounding areas that may be visited on the Day of the Region are the following: Sant'Ana Palace, Conceição Palace and the Building at Largo do Colégio in Ponta Delgada; Capitães-Generais Palace, Solar dos Remédios and Paço da Carreira dos Cavalos in Angra do Heroísmo, and the German Colony in Horta.
This initiative, which takes place for the first time this year, aims to strengthen the attachment of the Azorean population to autonomic institutions as well as to promote heritage preservation.
