More than 190 ITED technicians received training with Regional Government's support, reveals Ana Cunha

The Regional Secretary for Transport and Public Works announced in Ponta Delgada that more than 190 technicians working in the regional telecommunications sector (ITED) have received training, which evidences the Regional Government's commitment to the local training of technicians in this area.

The Regional Secretary spoke at the delivery ceremony of diplomas to the participants who completed the Telecommunications Infrastructure Design and Installation Course. On the occasion, she highlighted the Regional Government's support for this type of training provided by the Portuguese Communications Business Association (ACIST).

In this context, the government official recalled that the Regional Government installed "a properly equipped room for the training of human resources in the Azores at the premises of the Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory and allocated financial support amounting to 35 thousand years to this initiative.

According to Ana Cunha, we have managed "to ensure the training of human resources in several areas, such as installation of telecommunications equipment, building conservation and telecommunications infrastructure design.

In this regard, the government official pointed out that the Regional Government has provided all the necessary conditions for the training and accreditation procedures to be conducted in the Azores. This enables "technicians and designers registered in the archipelago to comply with all the necessary requirements for their professional practice according to the legislation in force."

Ana Cunha also stated that the holding of these training sessions in the Azores is in line with the need for constant updating of technicians working in the area of telecommunications, given the emergence of new obligations and legal requirements.

"Therefore, professionals must have access to more information and knowledge that will enable them to acquire competitive advantages and ensure their professional inclusion," said the government official. According to her, this "an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and clarify doubts in an environment conducive to the exchange of knowledge."

The Regional Secretary also stated that, last year, 37 participants were enrolled in training courses and 31 new professionals were certified in the sector, noting that training in the Region has always been a priority for the Regional Government as well as for ACIST itself.

"I thank ACIST for the commitment and dedication to this partnership and for the work it has carried out in the Azores," said Ana Cunha, who considered that this partnership, established since 2005, has been quite fruitful.

The Regional Secretary also highlighted the importance of these training courses "in order to have a Region better prepared for the challenges we are currently facing with all the rigour required from this activity to fulfil its role at the service of populations."
