Government develops electronic platform for regular evaluation and dissemination of greenhouse gas emissions
Given the need to develop a global action plan to tackle climate change and acknowledging the role that all agents responsible for territorial management may play in this joint action intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), the reduction of adverse effects and adaptation to the phenomena resulting from climate change, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea is developing an electronic platform for measuring and monitoring the greenhouse gas emissions, thus ensuring the regular maintenance and dissemination of the Regional GHG Inventory.
The project in question requires the availability of online surveys to be filled on a regular basis so that all socio-economic agents, public or private, who contribute directly or indirectly to GHG emissions, may monitor the gas emission produced by them. Consequently, the Azores will know more accurately the extent of its contribution to climate change, which is an essential foundation for the adoption of measures to improve the environment at a regional and global level.
