Government of the Azores regulates "Regular Physical Activity for Young People"

The "Regular Physical Activity for Young People" will now have new rules in the Azores, starting Tuesday. The regulation was published today in the Official Journal.

The project "Regular Physical Activity for Young People" aims to "promote physical activity among young people, aged between eleven and eighteen years, guided by duly qualified trainers; the latter, due to the specificities of the activity or difficulty of access, are not included in sports activities that are regulated and run by sports federations."

Sports clubs, school sports clubs and youth associations are the beneficiaries of the support provided in the regulation now published. In certain situations, other non-profit associations may still benefit from this support measure, provided that they develop this type of physical activity.

The project "Regular Physical Activity for Young People" comprises two types of activity group and/or sports group. One covers of exploration of nature activities, expressive and rhythmic activities, as well as other activities or sports that cannot be integrated into sports activities regulated and run by sports federations under the sports public utility statute.

The other encompasses activities with the possibility of being integrated into sports activities that regulated and run by sports federations under the sports public utility statute.

Eligible beneficiaries should simultaneously meet the following requirements: a technical manager who holds degree in the area of sport science or a professional degree of sports coach who should be always present during the activities; a minimum of fifteen practitioners for each activity group and sports group.

The new regulation also determines, among others, the aspects concerning the procedures for the submission of applications and their approval, the signing of contracts, and the subsequent follow-up and management of funds.
