Regional Government invests 206 thousand Euros in implementation of youth projects

The Government of the Azores, through the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs, has approved the financing of more than a hundred projects covering the areas of creativity, incentive to youth associations, youth mobility and free time occupation; the global investment being over 206 thousand Euros. The decision follows the favourable opinion of the members of the Evaluation Committee of applications for youth support,

"The applications submitted and the projects to be supported show the vitality of Azorean youth, through the involvement of thousands of young people in various activities that value this age group and, consequently, enrich the future of the Azores," said the Regional Secretary.

"Saying that the future belongs to young people is not a cliché or mere words, it is an unquestionable truth that we embody in our political action. The investment we now make in supporting the projects submitted shows precisely that," said Berto Messias.

Four projects were supported in the area of Citizenship and Local Volunteering, involving 470 young people.

The area of Youth Mobility, through the Bento de Góis programme, aims to promote the regional, national and international mobility of young people living in the Azores as a stimulating, enriching and structuring experience of the Azorean identity and European citizenship. 66 projects were supported in this area, representing an investment over 138 thousand Euros that will cover 613 young people.

As for International Mobility, three projects were approved with funding that will allow 42 young Azoreans to travel to the United States, Slovakia and England.

In order to continue encouraging the creativity of young people through projects that allow them to transform ideas into cultural and artistic initiatives, 30 projects were approved under the "Get into Scene" programme.

Eight projects were supported in the area of Youth Free Time Occupation, namely regarding the organisation of activities in holiday camps, involving 180 young people under the "Get into Camp" programme.
