Ten million Euros will be the maximum amount of support to be allocated by the Government of the Azores to the non-profitable associations this year in order to subsidise public interest projects in the area of tourism.
The decision was implemented by a Resolution approved by the Council of the Government on Wednesday regarding the promotion and development of a structured tourism animation offer.
For the Azorean Government, the creation of partnerships with the private sector to promote the Azores as a tourist destination, to develop tourist animation and train human resources in the tourism sector “decisively contributes to the reinforcement of this sustainability of the regional economy.”
The application period for these support measures takes place until 30 days after publication of the governmental Resolution; however the application from the Cohesion Islands - Santa Maria, Graciosa, S. Jorge, Flores and Corvo – may be submitted at any time of the year.
At the same meeting, the Government also approved a Resolution establishing the budget limit of 500,000 Euros for the allocation of incentives under the professional traineeships which are included in the Empreende Jovem Programme - System of Incentives for Entrepreneurship during 2010.
While presenting the final press release of the meeting, the Regional Secretary of the Presidency added that the measure aims “to support the implementation of traineeship programmes in regional companies addressed at youngsters seeking their first or new job. Eligible applicants must a hold a degree from higher education or polytechnic institutions, or a level IV course from technical schools.”
These traineeships will be carried out under the supervision of institutions linked to the teaching and research areas “with the purpose of enhancing the cooperation between the education and training system, and the business world,” stated André Bradford.
