Angra do Heroísmo ,  March 31, 2016

"Prepare Your Return Home" programme informs university students about opportunities in companies

The Regional Assistance Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stated in Angra do Heroísmo that the diversification of the regional economy  provides Azorean young people with opportunities to enter the labour market after completing their university studies.
 
"There are opportunities in a context where the diversification of our economy is necessary, from agricultural diversification, sea-related activities to the tourism sector; the latter registered an extraordinary growth over last year", said Isabel Rodrigues.
 
The Regional Secretary spoke at the University of the Azores, before an audience of university students during an information session on the "Prepare Your Return Home."
 
This programme aims to provide a space for information and interaction to the students who are completing their studies, especially to those who had to move from their island of residence.
 
"What we try to do is, on the one hand, concentrate on the website all the information about the range of programmes developed by the Regional Government to support traineeships and investments support," said the Regional Secretary.
 
"On the other hand, we have promoted these moments at universities, more specifically in the places where there are Azorean students, providing a direct interaction between students and technicians from various governmental. They will have the opportunity to know in depth each of these programmes, post questions, visit the site in the company of a technician and receive the necessary guidance for the submission of applications," added the government official.
 
The session held today at the campus of Angra do Heroísmo featured the participation of young entrepreneur from Terceira André Leonardo, who has recently travelled around the world with the goal of telling inspiring stories and inspiring other people.
 
Isabel Rodrigues wanted to join him to this Government's initiative, which is an "appeal to young Azoreans so that, at this stage of their lives, they may using all of their entrepreneurial ability and creativity."
 
 "The Azores are here and the Azores need them. The future is for them and this is the message we want to pass on today," said the Regional Secretary.
