The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism highlighted the importance of hosting the 44th APAVT - Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies in the Azores. The event will take place on São Miguel from November 21 to 25, bringing to the Region about 500 participants, namely professionals from various tourism activity sectors, opinion leaders and journalists.
"We know that the APAVT Congress is known as an important driving force in increasing tourism flows. In this context, the organisation of this event in the Azores will be a very important moment of promotion, taking into account the profile of the vast majority of participants, with special emphasis on the travel agents who promote potential destinations," said Marta Guerreiro.
The Secretary for Tourism spoke in Ponta Delgada at the presentation of this event, which counts on the support of the Regional Government. On the occasion, she stressed that this congress "represents, on the one hand, the attractiveness of the Azores, being organised for the fourth time in the Region. On the other hand, it is an excellent example of the investment in the tourism segment, evidencing the consolidation of our destination."
"It is quite clear that the increase of tourism flows is visible throughout the year, which demonstrates that the Azores can position themselves in the business tourism segment," added the government official.
According to the Regional Secretary, "the Azores have the ideal conditions for events at various levels, particularly cultural and sporting events, corporate events, team building actions, thus providing an unforgettable holiday full of stories to tell."
"Regarding the characteristics of the archipelago, it is important to show the Azores through its products, mainly through those that mark its identity as a tourist destination, whether they be diving, whale watching, surfing, volcanology, hiking or even the meeting industry," stressed Marta Guerreiro.
