Youth associations will certify skills

The youth associations will be authorised to certify skills acquired by youngsters under the activities promoted by these institutions.

The idea was reiterated by the Regional Director for Youth on Sunday evening, who reminded the Government’s commitment in the electoral programme of the last regional elections.

Bruno Pacheco, who spoke at the swear-in ceremony of the governing bodies of the Youth Association of Terceira Island – AJIT, said that “this is a far reaching commitment,” which is being regulated, allowing “the approve and certification of skills that go beyond the traditional qualifications ensured by regular education” in a joint effort with other governmental programmes.

According to the Regional Director, youth associations will have more competences, in addition to the “valuable work to promote the participation,” which may contribute to the appraisal, approval and certification of the participation of youngsters in the activities organised within associations with the purpose of acknowledging “the work developed by them.”

Bruno Pacheco stressed, on the other hand, that the specific work carried out by the association, whose swear-in ceremony he presided over on behalf of the President of Government, Carlos César, and mentioned that throughout the seven years of existence “it has played a leading role in the mobilisation of youngsters on Terceira Island as well as of Azorean youngsters in general.”

In turn, the re-elected president of the AJIT, Décio Santos thanked the support provided by the Government to this project “since the beginning”, and ensured the commitment of the institution to fight for the interests of youngsters in cooperation with institutions.
