Government reinforces investment in animal health and water supply on Faial island
The Faial island farmers have at their disposal, since Friday, two more cattle contention parks in order to better care for their animals health and well-being.
The construction work, partially supported by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forests, represents a public investment of over 35 thousand Euros, corresponding to the wish and initiative of the Cedros Parish Council, as well as to the local farmers’ needs.
On Faial island, the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forests also opened the Water Reservoir, Network and Distribution Point for the Cedros parish producers.
From all the work undertaken, the water catchment system in Relvas stands out. This water will be directed to a 250 m3 reservoir, from which a water conduct was installed in order to supply a public water distribution point.
This water supply reinforcement to the Faial island producers will directly benefit 16 agricultural explorations and about 300 hectares of agricultural land, representing a 56 thousand Euros investment.
