Regional Government will create measures to support companies with debts owed by local councils
Carlos César revealed this afternoon that the Regional Government will create tools to solve the problem of companies, to which the regional local councils owe debts.
Adding that these measures will soon be announced, the President of the Government stressed that the situation to be solved “is especially relevant in the larger municipalities with unsettled debts to companies, which leads to their decapitalisation.
The President, who received the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores at an audience, also stated that the Government has awarded priority to a group of small works, spread in rural communities, which has allowed, in the one hand, to solve the problem of degraded housing – as an alternative to re-housing in new housing developments – and, on the other hand, to award these works to small local companies.
For Carlos César, this is a concern that should be extended to local authorities, which also have similar jurisdiction over housing matters. “These investments are at the same level as municipal budgets, which may contribute to the development of small construction companies.”
The President of the Government also announced that from the publication of the last budget decree, the Government was provided with legal tools as well as a rule that allow the extension of the grace period for the repayment of incentives at the request of companies.
“We are available to extend this grace period when necessary,” stated Carlos César.
