The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, promotes the first Meeting with Energy Efficiency in Ponta Delgada next Monday, April 10.
 
This meeting will take place at the Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory. It marks the beginning of a series of initiatives to be promoted throughout the year with the aim of promoting this theme with several sectors, thus contributing to an energy efficient and sustainable Region.
 
In this first session, industry, agriculture, forestry and fishing are the main themes, while the other meetings on energy efficiency are expected to address themes such as electric mobility, public buildings or public lighting, among others.
 
These meetings are intended to raise awareness and disseminate the best energy efficiency practices, both from a theoretical and a practical standpoint, by sharing the knowledge of researchers with a vast experience in research and development projects that seek to find the best practices for the optimisation of energy consumption.
 
In addition, the event will be attended by energy service companies that will demonstrate practical success stories, actions and products as well as business models for the implementation of energy efficiency measures, the so-called Energy Performance Contracts (CDE).
 
These meetings will also include national and regional entities that will disseminate the incentive systems available to fund programmes and projects designed to promote energy efficiency in order to optimise energy consumption, reduce costs and strengthen competitiveness.
 
With these initiatives, the Regional Directorate for Energy aims to reach society in general, public administration and companies in various activity sectors with the aim of raising awareness for themes under discussion and promoting a low carbon economy in the Azores.
