Regional Government promotes Regional Meeting of Youth Associations

The Regional Government promotes, from today and during the weekend, the Regional Meeting of Youth Associations in Angra do Heroísmo with the participation of representatives of 29 youth associations from São Miguel, Terceira, Pico, Faial and Santa Maria.

The event, which brings together nearly 50 participants, intends to provide a moment of networking and exchange of experiences, including various workshops on topics related to youth.

As part of this meeting, Marília Simões will guide the panel entitled "Young People Who Inspire Us," featuring the examples of João Amaral, Joana Martins, Filipa Brasil and Miguel Capote, who participated in volunteering projects.

The roundtable on "Good Associative Practices" includes the participation of Hugo Ribeiro, Adamastor Association, Joana Grácio, the "Casa do Povo" of Santa Bárbara (community centre) and Décio Santos from AJITER - Terceira Island Youth Association.

Verónica Leite, Sandra Bento and Ana Simas will conduct the workshop on "Training in Volunteer and Associative Management," while Miguel Capote will guide the workshop on "Inclusive Activities."

Francisco Simões will guide the workshop entitled "Leadership and Motivation" and the workshop on "Youth Professionals Skills" will be conducted by António Matos.

The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stressed that this initiative "intends to promote the meeting of associations, the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences among regional youth associations."

"In addition to addressing practical issues, this is also a moment of strengthening the union and the spirit of cohesion among the associations from various islands," added Berto Messias.

"Over the last two years, we have developed a series of actions aimed at reinforcing the support for associations as a driving force towards more young civic participation in our Region," said the government official. In this regard, he added that this approach will be reinforced in 2019 "with the certainty that more young people will participate in youth associations, thus becoming an asset to the construction of the future of the Azores."
