Government committed in new dynamism to bring the Azores closer to their Communities through youngsters
The Regional Director for Communities reiterated in Ponta Delgada on Monday evening the Government’s willingness to support the projects which the young Azoreans and the youngsters from the Azorean Communities spread throughout the world develop on the subject of experience exchange and on the assertion of their common interests.
Rita Dias, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the “2009 Youth Meeting – The Reinforcement of the Role of Youth in the Azores and in the Communities” (Encontro de Jovens 2009 – O Reforço do Papel da Juventude nos Açores e nas Comunidades) is convinced that a new dynamic will be created by bringing the Azores closer to their Communities through youth associations from now onwards.
The aforementioned meeting which took place on São Miguel Island during three days and counted upon the presence of 60 participants from various youth associations of the Azores, Mainland Portugal, Bermudas, Brazil, Canada and from the United States of America, in a joint initiative of the Regional Directorates for Communities and for Youth, intended to provide youngsters from the Communities a greater cooperation with the regional youth association movement, thus encouraging the reflection and the debate on issues of common interest.
A portal that encourages network partnerships in order to exchange experiences in the context of youth associations and to strengthen the establishment of communication channels was presented during the meeting.
Regarding this subject, the Regional Director for Communities stressed that such support will stimulate a greater contact between all, regardless the communities where one is integrated, thereby enabling a closer contact between the Azores and their Communities.
