The Soup Festival of Terceira Island, likewise other initiatives, is important in several aspects, stated the Vice-President of the Government of the Azores in São Bento, Angra do Heroísmo on Sunday night.
Sérgio Ávila, who presided over on behalf of the President of the Government, Carlos César, to 7th edition of this festival which includes 40 different types of soup, explained that the initiative allows “recovering knowledge and flavours of our traditional cuisine.”
The Vice-President added that the event “promotes a healthy competition between restaurants that excel in the presentation of soups that may attract locals and tourists,” which is important to improve the quality of gastronomic offer.
Furthermore, Sérgio Ávila also stated the festival promotes the consumption of soup which is “one of the healthiest foods that one can eat.”
The festival, which is open to the entire population, counted upon the participation of restaurants and individuals.
