Corvo Island with guaranteed supply

The supply to the island of Corvo by sea has been carried out since this morning, following the arrival of the vessel “Ponta da Barca” to Casa Port.

Nearly 120 tonnes of miscellaneous goods and fuel were loaded at Horta Port in order to guarantee the normal supply to the different economic activities on the island of Corvo.

Additionally, the vessel “Ponta da Barca” will make call at Lajes Port, Flores Island, carrying another 100 tonnes of goods, which makes up a total of 220 tonnes of food, fresh products, fruits, vegetables, flour, construction material and fuel, among other products, intended for entrepreneurs and the local population.

This transport operation was carried out by the vessel “Ponta da Barca," owned by the company Transportes Marítimos Graciosenses, which was chartered by the company Empresa de Barcos do Pico due to a malfunction in the vessel "Lusitânia."

With this procedure, the normal supply to the island of Corvo has been ensured by a local maritime company.

The Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works, through the Regional Cohesion Fund, monitors the supply of goods to the island of Corvo on a regular basis, being in permanent contact with entrepreneurs and the local authority.

In view of the situation resulting from the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo and the measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regional Government has taken all the necessary steps to guarantee regular supplies to Corvo Island.
