Regional Public Libraries and Regional Archives celebrate World Children's Day

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Public Libraries and Regional Archives, joins the celebrations of the World Children's Day, which is marked on June 1.

The João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive in Horta holds a Children's Book Exhibition that will be open to the public from June 1 and 8. It may be visited from Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 6 PM, and on Saturday from 2 PM to 6 PM.

In turn, the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive in Angra do Heroísmo promotes the show "Bogeyman and the Dream," based on the work of the same name by José Jorge Letria, on June 1 at 4 PM.

This activity falls within the multidisciplinary project developed by the Library of Tomás de Borba Basic Education and Secondary School. It includes students and teachers from the Departments of Artistic Education, Arts and Preschool Education. It combines oral storytelling, conducted by teacher Mário Rego, with the musical performances of students enrolled in the Choir and "Viola da Terra" (Azorean guitar) courses.

The show will be held at the Theatre Laboratory of the Children's and Youth Section and does not require prior registration. However, admission is limited to the capacity of the room and, for that reason, those who are interested should comply with the stipulated schedule.

The Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive also joins the celebrations of World Children's Day with the show "Magic Night" to take place Friday, May 31, at the interior garden at 9 PM.

This show is based on the Disney classics and features the performances of the Regional Conservatory of Ponta Delgada and the group of ballet dancers from Studio 13.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
