Workshop on Good Practices in Health presents 13 projects implemented in regional hospitals and health centres

The Workshop on Good Practices in Health takes place on Friday, December 7, in Horta. It will include the presentation of 13 projects that are being carried out in regional health units and hospitals.

The fifth edition of the event is being attended by seventy participants, namely health professionals and managers. The programme comprises good practices in the areas of maternal and child health, quality and safety management, the relation between patients and the hospital environment, and the Imaging Information System for the Regional Health Service.

The Faial Health Unit will present the projects "Maternal health surveillance," "Internal reporting system of incidents and adverse events" and "Management of patient and employee opinion."

At the meeting, the São Miguel Health Unit teams will present the projects "Learning course for childbirth and parenting" and "Informal caregivers and mental health nursing care."

The "Implementation of the rapid antigen diagnostic test of group A streptococcus" by Graciosa Health Unit and the "Implementation of risk management system" by Terceira Health Unit are other works to be presented at this workshop.

Regarding hospitals, "Caring for the environment also cares for health" and "Microbiological control in the cytotoxic preparation unit" will be the projects presented by Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island, while the "Optimised recovery project" will be presented by Divino Espírito Santo Hospital of Ponta Delgada.

In turn, the Horta Hospital will present the projects "Training on self-care and promoting quality of life for ostomy patients and their families" and the "Implementation of the ambulatory surgery unit."

The programme also includes the Imaging Information System for the Regional Health Service under the responsibility of Saudaçor.

This meeting is a space for analysis and sharing of differentiating projects on good practices that contribute to the improvement of health care, providing an increasingly adjusted response to the needs of Azoreans so that they may be replicated in other health units.

The initiative contributes, on the one hand, to a greater visibility of the work carried out by health services in the scope of its action and, on the other hand, to the proximity among professionals and the exchange of knowledge.

The Workshop on Good Practices in Health is held each year in a different municipality. The previous editions took place in Povoação, Lajes do Pico, Vila do Porto and Praia da Vitória.
