Secretary for the Economy defends that the Regional Charter for Competitiveness is an important tool for regional policies

“The drafting of a Regional Charter for Competitiveness is a fundamental aspect to allow the Region to find responses to the challenges with which it is confronted in order to become a region of success,” defended the Regional Secretary for the Economy in Ponta Delgada on Thursday afternoon.

Vasco Cordeiro spoke on behalf of President of the Government at the opening session of the seminar on the “Azores, Competitive Challenges,” reminded that the drafting of the Regional Charter for Competitiveness has been supported by the Government of the Azores since the beginning; therefore the Secretary expects that this document will become “a precious tool for policy-making decisions.”

The Regional Secretary for Economy also mentioned that the Region must face the current challenges “in an atmosphere of collaboration and partnership between public and private agents” as “if we all fulfil our role effectively, we are contributing to the development of the Azores.”

Moreover, Vasco Cordeiro defended that absolute necessity of “nonconformity and ambition” because this is the spirit that will enable “to find the best solutions to face each economic cycle.”

“The outcome of the drafting Regional Charter for Competitiveness is awaited with great expectation,” the Regional Secretary for the Economy mentioned, who ensure the full commitment of the Government in “the creation of conditions that allow the Azores to become a competitive and successful region.”
