The beginning of the activities of the Azorean Dairy Centre (CALL) will be “important for the revitalisation of the dairy sector in the Azores.”
The idea was conveyed by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry at the end of a meeting with the representatives of milk producers and of the dairy industry that was held in Ponta Delgada.
For the Secretary, the CALL “should cover the majority of the dairy sector through the development of works and studies on the strategies to promote this sector and the Azorean products as well as to develop the scientific research project to enhance of the Azorean milk.”
Noé Rodrigues was pleased with the consensus between the representatives of milk producers and of the dairy industry in order to start the activities of the CALL, a structure that was created with the purpose of promoting various strategic initiatives to boost the Azorean dairy products.
During the next weeks, the parties involved in the process will analyse the statutes of the CALL in order to move ahead with legal formalisation of this Centre and a new meeting is scheduled for May.
