Civil Protection Service signs cooperation protocol with the Trauma Centre of the University of Coimbra
The Regional Secretary for Science, Technology and Infrastructures, through the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service (SRPCBA) will sign a cooperation protocol with the Trauma Centre of the Social Studies Centre of the University of Coimbra in Lisbon on Wednesday, March 31.
The Trauma Centre, coordinated by sociologist José Manuel Mendes and by psychiatrist Luísa Sales, is an entity that aims to promote and disseminate the study and knowledge on prevention and the intervention in psychological and psychosocial trauma in crisis situations, disasters and catastrophes as well as to collaborate with multiple institutions involved in these areas.
The signing ceremony of this protocol, an entity with which the SRPCBA has already established other cooperation agreements and organised joint initiatives, will be attended by the National Association of Sanitary Training; the Victim Support Association; Portuguese Red Cross; the Directorate for Health of the Air Force; the GARE – Association for the Promotion of Road Safety Culture, the Psychology Office of GNR (Portuguese national republican guard); the Social Security Institute and the Madeira Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service.
The event will take place at the Urban Information Centre of Lisbon (Picoas Plaza) at 3 PM in conjunction with the Opening Conference of the Cycle of Conferences on “Trauma and risks” which is promoted by the Trauma Centre of the Social Studies Centre of the University of Coimbra and coordinated by Carlos Veloso, who is the Head of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit of the United Nations World Food Programme (WPF – UN) and the current Coordinator of the Food Programme in Haiti.
The SRPCBA will be represented by researcher Eduardo Ferraz da Rosa.
