Guide Course for the Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture

The Course addressed guides who desire to specialise in the Protected Landscape of Pico Island Vineyard Culture, a landscape classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO has started on April 13. This initiative is promoted by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea, through the Technical Office of the Protected Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture. The course is being held after-working hours.

In order to provide tourism professionals operating on the Pico with the necessary tools and knowledge for an adequate dissemination and promotion of this Heritage, the course focuses on the historical and cultural aspects of vine cultivation; the traditional vineyard and wine of Pico; the traditional architecture of Landscape of the Pico Vineyard Culture; the classification of the Landscape as a World Heritage Site; cartography; pedestrianism; geological heritage; the fauna and flora of the Protected Landscape of the Pico Vineyard Culture; communication and interpersonal relations in tourism; technical English and basic first aid.

Of the 23 registrations, most are of tourism professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge of this heritage. The course is being held at the Interpretation Centre of the Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture in Lajido de Santa Luzia, although some sessions are being held outdoors.
