"Academy J" training plan to be extended to Flores and Corvo, announces Regional Director for Youth

The "Academy J" training plan took place this year on the islands of Terceira and São Miguel and will be extended next year to the islands of Flores and Corvo. Currently, the government is considering its eventual extension to other islands, namely Faial, announced the Regional Director for Youth.

"After the success of the first training cycle on Terceira and São Miguel, we will now achieve what was one of our aspirations since the very beginning: the extension of this project to more islands in the archipelago," said Lúcio Rodrigues. The government official spoke at the end of a cycle of meetings with youth associations and other agents in the sector that took place over two days on the islands of Corvo and Flores.

Lúcio Rodrigues pointed out that the path outlined by the Region in youth is "clear" and "based on the strategic pillars defined for this sector at the beginning of the legislature period. It is primarily focused on creating conditions for increased employability, promoting the professional qualification of young people and strengthening the civic participation of Azorean youth."

"Naturally, as the Region is made up of nine islands, it is our mission to provide opportunities for young people from all islands, providing another contribution to strengthening the territorial cohesion of the Azores, this time in the area of youth," added the government official.

The "Academy J" training plan involved dozens of young people in May and June of this year at the Terceira Youth and Arts Academy in Praia da Vitória and at Teatro Micaelense in Ponta Delgada. The training sessions covered topics related to communication, event organisation and digital marketing.

"Academy J" is a training plan created by the Regional Directorate for Youth with the aim of complementing the academic and professional training of Azorean youth, thus contributing to better employability and the acquisition of more skills.

On Corvo Island, the Regional Director for Youth met with the Board of Corvo Youth Association and with Group 1181 of the National Scouts Corps, while, on Flores Island, he met with the Board of Flores Youth Association and Group 691 of the National Scouts Corps.
