Ponta Delgada ,  March 07, 2015

Government expects that the incentive scheme Competir+ will yield very positive results in the Region, says Sérgio Ávila

The Vice-President of the Government expressed his belief that the incentive scheme Competir+, recently implemented, "will certainly be highly beneficial” to the Region.

Speaking at an information session on Competir+, held in Ponta Delgada last Friday, Sérgio Ávila also mentioned his expectations regarding the positive impact of this incentive scheme "in terms of employment creation and development of economic activities in the Azores."

Speaking before one hundred and fifty entrepreneurs, the government official emphasised that Competir+ "is an incentive scheme not only directed to investments but also to the competitiveness of Azorean companies."

Sérgio Ávila stressed that "Azorean companies are the only ones in the country" to have at their disposal "the most generous, intense, comprehensive and diverse incentive scheme" at a national level.

The Government of the Azores promotes during the month of March several information sessions on all islands, except for Corvo, on the Incentive Scheme for Business Competitiveness - Competing+.

The first two sessions took place Thursday in Angra do Heroísmo and Friday in Ponta Delgada, followed by an information session to be held at Faial Hotel in Horta on March 11.

The remaining sessions will be held at Cardeal Costa Nunes in Madalena, Pico (March 12), Teatro Ribeira Grandense, Ribeira Grande (March 13); Colombo Hotel, Vila do Porto (March 17); Graciosa Hotel, Santa Cruz (March 19); Velas Vocational Training School, São Jorge (March 23); headquarters of Lagoa Business Centre, São Miguel (March 26) and Flores Hotel, Santa Cruz (March 27).

All sessions will begin at 5:30 PM, except for the one to take place on the island of Pico at 4:30 PM. These initiatives are organised by the Society for the Business Development of the Azores (SDEA) in collaboration with chambers of commerce, business associations and business centres from several islands.
