The Regional Government is carrying out a large volume of investment in the agricultural planning, improving accessibility as well as the water supply network and power grid system in farms, stated the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, Noé Rodrigues, on Thursday morning.
The ongoing works to improve rural, agricultural and forest roads on the island of São Miguel currently exceed four million Euros. In this context, the additional amount of three million Euros will be allocated.

Moreover, the Regional Secretary visited the contract works for water supply to Torrão Grande (Mosteiros) and Cancelões/Fajãs (Achadinha), and the improvement works of the rural roads of the Canada dos Remédios/Araújo/Carvalhos (Remédios), Criação (Fenais da Ajuda), Briosa (Furnas), Ribeirinha (Povoação), Pico (Água Retorta), Espigão da Madeira (Achada) and Toco da Ginja (Achadinha).
The extension of the power grid to farms is another ongoing intervention, which will benefit 43 milking rooms on São Miguel, announced the Secretary.
These visited are also intended to hear farmers about their working conditions and assess the dynamics introduced by these investments in the course of their activities.
According to Noé Rodrigues, these investments are fundamental to the growth of agriculture, the promotion of quality agricultural products and the revitalisation of agriculture in the Azores.
Therefore, we must reinforce these improvements to boost the proficiency of the agricultural sector which will benefit the Azorean economy.
