The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry stated today that the Regional Government has already approved on the island of Terceira investments amounting to 39 million Euros under the measures of the PRORURAL+ programme for the modernisation of farms and support for the processing, marketing and development of agricultural products. 

"These investments have made a very positive contribution to the development of the agricultural sector on the island of Terceira, so as to grow increasingly competitive, sustainable, innovative and capable of generating adding value to its production," said João Ponte. He spoke on the sidelines of a visit to the Terceira-based company Açoraves, whose investment supported by PRORURAL+ is “a good example for its the contribution to reinforcing self-sufficiency and the economic development of Terceira Island.” 

The government official stated that 264 applications for the modernisation of farms have been approved on the island of Terceira under the current framework, corresponding to an investment of 32 million Euros.
 
With regard to the processing, marketing and development of agricultural products, a total of nine projects were approved on the island of Terceira, representing an investment of 7.3 million Euros. 

“All these projects have contributed to creating jobs, generating wealth and guaranteeing the sustainability of Terceira's agricultural sector," João Ponte stressed, emphasising that the investment made in various areas has boosted the development and growth of this island and the Region.
