The Regional Secretariat of Agriculture and Forestry will invest 80 thousand Euros in the improvement of the forest road to Serra de Santa Bárbara, in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.
The works, for which a public call for tenders was recently launched, consist in the resurface of the pavement with asphalt in a 2 km extension.
The improvement of this forest road will directly benefit an area of permanent pasture with about 110 hectares and forests.
The road also assures the access to the top of Serra de Santa Bárbara where different infrastructures to support Civil Protection Services, such as radio and television broadcast, and weather information, are located.
The improvement of the roads as well as the water and electricity supplies to farms continues to be one of the Azorean Government’s priorities in order to contribute to the reduction of production costs and to the improvement of working conditions and of this sector’s income.
