The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism makes available the application form for the "Green Spirit" awards on the Regional Government Portal from today until October 31. These awards were created by the Resolution of the Council of the Government no.79/2018 of July 16.

Individual or legal persons residing or headquartered in the Autonomous Region of the Azores are eligible applications, provided that the action, project, product or service in competition falls within the defined categories: "Natural Resources and Environmental Quality," "Research and Development," "Circular, Green and Blue Economy," "Education, Communication and Volunteering," and "Personality or Institution."

The "Green Spirit" awards aim to highlight the environmental commitment and reward companies, institutions and personalities that stand out in the Region for good environmental practices, environmental research, activism, volunteerism and patronage, promoting an ever more active environmental citizenship.

The winner of each category will be awarded a prize and honourable mentions may also be awarded under this initiative. The prizes will be awarded at public ceremony to take place during the celebrations of the World Environment Day, which is annually marked on June 5.

Applications are voluntary and free. They must be made through the form available at the address http://espiritoverde.azores.gov.pt.
