The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and the Sea, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment is participating at the World Waste Congress which takes place in Lisbon from October 12 to October 15. This event is organised by the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and will based on the theme “Turning waste into ideas.”
The Azorean delegation will present a lecture title as “The Prevention and Waste Management in the Azores” (A Prevenção e Gestão de Resíduos nos Açores). Thus, making a wide audience acquainted with the work developed at a regional level by the public administration and waste management operators among others. This work includes the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Waste Management in the Azores (PEGRA), the regional legislation on waste, the free waste dispatch note, the financial support to waste maritime transport, etc. Those who are interested may consult the lecture’s summary in Portuguese and English as well as other relevant information on waste management in the Azores on the Internet at: www.residuos-azores.org.
