The Government of the Azores will support the Agricultural Association of Santa Maria (AASM) regarding the construction of a logistics centre that will congregate both productions and producers from Santa Maria, thus ensuring better access conditions to the markets.
The project, developed under the PRORURAL programme, will be financed in 75% by Community funds, representing an investment of over 1.5 million Euros, announced the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry at the end of a meeting with the board of the AASM.
The situation of the works that are being promoted by the official services to improve water supply to farms was also under analysis at the meeting with the representatives of the local farmers.
During the afternoon, Noé Rodrigues visited the works that are being carried out to build and improve rural and forestry roads, which is one of the contributions of the Regional Government to reduce the production costs, therefore increasing the income of local farmers.
