Vasco Cordeiro announces solution for Pipas Port that will contribute to the development of Angra do Heroísmo

The President of the Government announced that the Government has already decided on the solution for the redevelopment of Pipas Port. The investment will improve the conditions so that this infrastructure becomes a factor of development and progress for the city and municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.

"From a political point of view, there is an understanding and consensus on what should be done in that area and now, we must implement this decision from a technical perspective," assured Vasco Cordeiro, who received in audience the President of Angra do Heroísmo City Hall, Álamo Meneses.

The President of the Government said the phase of previous studies has allowed us, in conjunction with the City Gall, to reach the chosen solution. It will now be followed by the technical phase that will include the development of the final project for the implementation of this investment.

The redevelopment of this area of Pipas Port includes the construction of a Ro-Ro ramp to ensure links with other Central Group islands, taking into consideration the characteristics of the vessels "Mestre Simão" and "Gilberto Mariano."

"If we take into account the current situation in the context of maritime links with Central Group islands, it is important to remind that the vessels 'Mestre Simão' and 'Gilberto Mariano' are already in operation. There is another component related to certain theme cruises calling at this islands that will have better conditions to do so. Given our experience, this can be an attractive factor for more calls of theme cruises that travel through several islands," said Vasco Cordeiro.

According to the President of the Government, the investment will allow Pipas Port to play a role in "the reinforcement of maritime links with other islands of the Central Group, also becoming the port for theme cruise calls. This will enhance the importance of the World Heritage city as an added factor of attractiveness."

The solution will be publicly presented soon. It will "comply with the goals towards the preservation of the importance of that area and leverage its potential to provide an active contribution to the development of the city and the council," stressed the President of the Government.
