Government will invest 400 thousand Euros in the reconversion of the Whaling Industry Museum’s surrounding area
The Government will invest 400 thousand Euros in the reconversion of the Whaling Industry Museum’s surrounding area, in São Roque do Pico.
The reconversion project was presented on Pico Island today, during the visit of the President of the Government to the museum’s facilities, which were opened in 1994.
At this occasion, the Regional Director of Culture stated that this work “is a commitment of the Presidency of the Government and a fair aspiration of S. Roque’s population.”
After the investments made in the Baleeiros Museum and Wine Museum, the works that will be carried out here are a good example of the Government’s commitment in the cultural sector as a “development factor which creates well-being,” added Gabriela Canavilhas.
The Regional Director also considered that the Pico Museum despite being an atypical case, is also “an excellent example concerning the union of goals.”
The Pico Museum integrates the Baleeiros, Whaling Industry and Wine Museums, which are respectively located in the towns of Lajes, São Roque and Madalena.
The reconversion which was projected for the surrounding area of the Whaling Industry Museum includes a new square, an informal stage, sculptures and a green area.
