Regional Government to strengthen regional public administration's powers under the General Data Protection Regulation

The first of two training courses to improve the skills of the technical staff of the Regional Public Administration in the context of the General Data Protection Regulation began today at Nonagon - São Miguel Science and Technology Park in Lagoa.

Promoted by the Regional Government in partnership with the consultancy company Deloitte, this initiative aims at training multidisciplinary teams from various supervisory bodies in the procedural, legal and technological aspects of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016.

At the opening session of this training course, the Regional Director for Public Works and Communications highlighted “the investment made by the Regional Government in the provision of technical training to Regional Public Administration staff in this area."

Frederico Sousa also highlighted the "responsibility associated with data processing and protection that trainees should be able to instil and apply in their respective governmental departments."

Both training courses, with a duration of 40 hours each, will cover a total of 150 trainees. The second course will be held on the island of Terceira.
