DRJ reinforces Education for Citizenship

The 4th Conference on Adolescence, which was organised under the theme “Education for Health and Affective-sexual Education,” will take place at the Laranjeiras Secondary School in Ponta Delgada on April 19. This event is addressed at the school community in general.
This is initiative was jointly organised by the Regional Directorate for Youth with the purpose of reinforcing the development of cooperation strategies with several institutions of the Azorean community in order to enhance the youngsters’ knowledge on the themes of Education for Citizenship, with special emphasis on Sexual Education.
With scheduled panels, “Youngsters and Sexual Education” (Os Jovens e a Educação Sexual) and “Affective-sexual Education” (Educação Afectivo-Sexual), the 4th Conference on Adolescence will be attended by Professor Daniel Sampaio, Professor Isabel Baptista and Professor Margarida Gaspar de Matos.
The book “Jovens com Saúde – Diálogo com uma Geração” (Healthy Youngsters – Dialogue with a Generation) by Professor Margarida Gaspar de Matos, Professor Daniel Sampaio and Dr. Margarida Freire de Andrade will be launched after the panels.
Taking into account that primary prevention is one of the Government’s goals, this event recognises the important role played by teachers, technicians and the school community in the promotion of critical thinking, through which teenagers become aware of their behaviour and of the others, thus becoming more responsible.
