Government approves scholarship programme for artistic creation

Encouraging the “development of individual creation projects and of language research in the artistic areas” is the purpose of the Regulation of the Scholarship Programme for Artistic Creation published in the Official Journal today.

Approved by an Order of the President of the Government, this programme aims to provide “material conditions so that artists and professionals living in the Azores may develop and create unique and quality works, thereby expanding art production and its dissemination.

Scholarships will be awarded to the projects developed in the following categories: Visual Arts, Literary Creation, Dance (Choreography), Drama, Photography and Music (Classical Composition and Composition for Philharmonic Bands).

The value of each scholarship – two per category in a total of 14 – will be of 10,000 Euros, being subject to tax deduction estimated in the legislation in force.

Portuguese or foreign citizens over eighteen with permanent residence in the Azores for at least three years may apply for this programme.

The models of the Registration Form and the contract draft may be obtained at the Portal of the Government of the Azores in an area to be created for this purpose.
