Regional Incentive system stimulates stable job creation

The Vice-President of the Government considered the proposals presented under the Incentive System for Business Competitiveness that contribute to a "greater stability of human resources and the reduction of labour precariousness," according to the goals and incentives created by the Regional Government.

"The Azorean companies now have a system of incentives that is the most comprehensive and the most generous in the European Union," both in terms of investment support and hiring of workers," Sérgio Ávila. He spoke Thursday at the Legislative Assembly in Horta during a debate on incentives for the creation of more stable jobs under Competir +.

According to the Vice-President, "there are no companies within the European area with as much support and as much funding for private investment as in the Azores," allocating a financial contribution up to 65% for job creation.

As for the incentives to support the recruitment of human resources, Sérgio Ávila also noted that the Regional Government has cumulatively created programmes that benefit the permanent recruitment of workers.

"For example, through the LEP Programme, companies may receive - for contracts of indefinite duration- up to 12 thousand Euros for a three-year period," the Vice-President said, adding that this and other measures benefit workers, the stability of companies' staff and, consequently, their competitiveness.

According to the government official, the combination of the measures implemented by the Regional Government, through Competir+, the programmes to support the hiring of workers and the incentives approved last Thursday at the Parliament, "prevents grievances" and "has reached a balance." The recently approved measures introduce a mandatory percentage of workers recruited under a contract of indefinite duration that are deemed necessary for the company's operation under the projects approved by the incentive system.
