Current maritime transport model has sufficient capacity to accommodate any necessary changes, says Isabel Rodrigues

The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stated in Horta that the current maritime transport model of goods, given its reach and the way it is designed, "has enough capacity to accommodate any changes that may be necessary."

Speaking at the Legislative Assembly, Isabel Rodrigues stressed that the evaluation of this model is carried out by the Regional Government on a permanent basis.

"Whenever it is necessary to introduce and improvements, the model has the capacity to accommodate them. The Government here to better serve better the Azoreans, from Santa Maria to Corvo," said the government official.

For the Regional Secretary, "this is a model that serves the Region well."

"It is a comprehensive model that embodies a series of fundamental principles that the Regional Government does not intend to give up," added Isabel Rodrigues.

These principles concern the "continuity of service, price fairness and the series of obligations that ensure equal treatment for all nine islands, regardless of demographic and economic size and geographical location of each," said the Regional Secretary.
