Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre to host contemporary music concert and events under Sonic Geometry Performance Cycle in February

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, promotes in a partnership with the Regional Conservatory of Ponta Delgada the premiere of "Trottú," a multimedia performance of Morton Feldman's work “Crippled Symmetry,” next Sunday, February 10, at 5:30 PM.

"Tróttu" is a video and music project by Sofi Hémon and Alessandra Giura Longo, featuring the performances of Alessandra Giura Longo (flute and bass flute), Francesco Ciminiello (vibraphone and glockenspiel) and Sílvia Corda (piano and celesta).

Under the Sonic Geometry Performance Cycle, curated by Tremor festival, Arquipélago welcomes the @c duo, a project by Pedro Tudela e Miguel Carvalhais, on February 15 at 9:30 PM, followed by Rafael Toral at 10:30 PM; both performances take place at the Blackbox.

On February 23, the Contemporary Arts Centre will host the soundpainting workshop designated as ESMUSICA.RP em MOVIMENTO, an initiative promoted by Rabo de Peixe School of Music under the programming of the Educational Services. It is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM and will culminate in the performance of a concert to be held on the same day at the Blackbox at 5 PM.

Participation in this workshop is subject to registration, which should be made at the email [email protected] or by telephone 296 470 130.

Box office information is available at archipelagocentrodeartes.azores.gov.pt.

In turn, the three activities developed by the Educational Services of Arquipélago are already available upon previous registration. They were prepared based on the works featured in the 3rd Sonic Geometry Exhibition Cycle: "Exploring a Path," for children aged between 2 and 6, "Creatures in Plasticine," for children aged between 6 and 12, and "Chimneys in the 22nd century," for aged participants over 12 years.

The latter workshop will be also held on February 24 at 3 PM under the "Last Sunday of each Month" initiative.

Registrations for this and other activities promoted by the Educational Services should be made through the form available on the Arquipélago website, at the email [email protected] or by telephone 296 270 130.

These programme of activities promoted by the Educational Services for 2018/2019 is also available for consultation on the website.

In addition to the events scheduled for February, the third and final cycle of Sonic Geometry, curated by Nuno Faria and Nicolau Tudela, may be also visited from Tuesday to Sunday. It features the artistic projects by the duos Francisco Queimadela and Mariana Caló/Jonathan Uliel Saldanha and Pedro Tropa /Ricardo Jacinto, developed in Artistic Residency at Arquipélago, as well as a renewed selection of videos from the Audiovisual Archive of RTP.

The installation of architect Joaquim Morais Oliveira designated as "Landmark," created in Artistic Residency in September 2018, may also be visited during the month of February.

This project is primarily focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy. It was developed in the context of the initiatives promoted by the Regional Directorate for Culture under the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
