Sérgio Ávila announces 473 products already bearing the Azores Brand seal

The Vice-President of the Government revealed today that "473 products already bear the Azores Brand sea in just over a year," adding that 96 companies are registered on the brand portal.

Sérgio Ávila spoke at the signing ceremony of an agreement with INSCO, through which this company sell more products bearing the Azores Brand Seal, with special emphasis on meat products.

"We will have many more products since many companies are joining this brand. In fact, it has been a symbol of distinction and quality assurance to our companies, contributing to the promotion of our productions," said the government official.

The Vice-President noted the adherence of INSCO to the Azores Brand seal, taking into consideration "its ability to enhance products in a key area for our economic competitiveness and our economy, which is the meat sector." In this regard, the government official stressed the importance of consuming Azorean products in the archipelago.

"Consuming Azorean products is to contribute to the employment of Azoreans," stressed Sérgio Ávila. According to him, when we do not consume Azorean products, we are contributing to the creation of jobs elsewhere.

Accordingly, he considered that, as consumers, "we all play a key role in this effort to create more jobs."

"Until recently, it was not possible to identify, precisely and accurately, Azorean products, but now this is already possible," the government official said, adding that "the greater the adherence to the consumption of Azores Brand products, the greater the guarantee of evolution in regional production."

In his speech, Sérgio Ávila revealed that the Regional Government will extend the membership of the Azores Brand seal to large commercial establishments in the domestic market, "so that we may have the conditions to create an exclusively dedicated area to Azorean products in these establishments."

"We will associate this goal to a major campaign in the national media in the second quarter of this year with the aim of stimulating the appetite for consumption of Azorean products," the Vice-President said, stressing that this is the path that must be followed.

Alluding to the role of INSCO in marketing Azorean products, Sérgio Ávila pointed out that this company purchased last year 1,900 young bulls, 8,700 pigs and over half a million chickens bred in the Region.
