Regional Government suspends Participatory Budget 2020 but maintains execution of winning projects
The Regional Government has determined the suspension of the 2020 edition of the Participatory Budget of the Azores (OP Açores) due to the current situation caused by the novel coronavirus. The decision took into account the need for social isolation arising from all public health issues reflected in the governmental determinations to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
Notwithstanding the decision to suspend the current edition of OP Açores, the Government maintains the commitment made to all citizens that have promoted and voted for the winning proposals of the previous editions of the Participatory Budget of the Azores, continuing to work on the implementation of the corresponding projects, which contribute to the development of the Region.
The OP Açores is a programme developed by the Regional Government that aims to involve citizens in the political decision-making process in different areas of governance, recognising the value of a consolidated Autonomy while promoting the mechanisms of participatory democracy.
