Regional Government creates new measures to promote stability of employment

The Regional Government, through the Vice-Presidency, has created two new measures intended to streamline and effectively implement the internship and socio-professional integration measures made available for companies that closed down or reduced its activities due to health reasons.

In this context, the Extraordinary Internship Promotion Measure (MEVE) is created with the goal of intensifying and ensuring the continuity and integration of interns in the labour market. It will contribute to the improvement and increase of their professional skills, which will also benefit Azorean companies.

MEVE, whose resolution was published today in the Official Journal, is directed to all Azoreans coveted by the internship measures, providing financial support according to the four types of internship provided.

This measure, implemented on an exceptional and temporary basis, will be in force until March 31, 2021. It includes the "Regular Internship" as the first modality, encompassing all internships that currently take place at the premises where the promoting entity develops its activity.

The second modality, "Internship in Home Context," takes place at the intern's residence. In turn, the third modality, "Suspended Internship," applies to cases where companies with suspended activities are unable to carry out regular internships or at home, with a maximum duration stipulated at two consecutive months.

The fourth modality, "Training Internship," provides for a training plan, defined by the promoting entity for a period of one to six months, and is aimed at companies that closed down or reduced its activity.

In this modality, the Regional Government ensures the full payment of the scholarship and the food allowance, thus relieving entities in this very challenging context. Simultaneously, the Government is also investing in the qualification of young people, providing them with professional skills that will also benefit the respective entities, so as to contribute to the Region's economic development.

Meanwhile, the Regional Government has also decided to create the Extraordinary Socio-professional Integration Measure (MEVIS) directed to the at Azoreans covered by occupational measures. It is primarily intended to support their integration into the labour market as well as to improve and increase their professional skills with a view to their employability.

Similarly to the Extraordinary Internship Promotion Measure, MEVIS, whose resolution was also published today in the Official Journal, also comprises the same four modalities, but in a socio-professional context. Nevertheless, it maintains the same conditions, to which entities can apply at the electronic address https://portaldoemprego.azores.gov.pt

The Regional Government has based its strategy on the promotion of employment support policies, in which internship and socio-professional integration measures are of paramount importance as an incentive to enhance the employability and integration of Azoreans into the labour market.
