From May 25 to 29, the Regional Government promotes in Lisbon a campaign to promote 80 regional products, through the distribution of boxes containing these products at Lisbon shops.

Developed by the Vice-Presidency, through the Society for the Business Development of the Azores (SDEA), this campaign aims to implement a pilot project for the promotion, valuation and marketing of Azorean products in Mainland Portugal.

Under this initiative, a total of 25 shops were selected in Lisbon. These shops are located in prime city areas, such as Alfama, Graça, Baixa, Santa Apolónia, Avenidas Novas, Parque das Nações and Príncipe Real, which have a high population density and a great influx of tourists.

Given the differentiation and quality of Azorean production, which distinguish these products from others, the choice of the places for the promotion and placement of products took into consideration the size of shops, the target customers, the diversity of the products they sell and their interest in quality production in the agri-food sector.

The Catalogue of Azorean Products was the basis of a first approach to these shops. All companies listed in the catalogue were invited to select the most representative articles of their production.

The membership of Azorean companies to this initiative was immediate and made possible the delivery of promotional box featuring eight products in different production categories, which provides a comprehensive view of regional production.

Besides the delivery of the box, the 25 selected shops will receive a survey form in order to assess which products best fit into the national market and, consequently, improve trade relations between producers and retailers.

After the pilot phase and the respective assessment, the project will be extended to other areas of Mainland Portugal, always regarding traditional shops that invest in quality as the starting point of this initiative.
