According to the data released by the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), the number of registered unemployed in the Azores registered a decrease of 10.6 percent in January compared to the same month in 2016.
 
The region maintains the lowest number of unemployed over the past five and a half years, although January is one of the months when the number of registered unemployed increase due to the seasonality of some sectors .
 
In January, the Agencies for Qualification and Employment recorded 9613 registrations in the Region.
 
With regard to the annual rate of job offers, the data show a significant increase of 58.4 percent in the first month of this year.
