Azores attend 5th of the Meeting of the Monitoring Commission for the Territorial Enhancement Programme
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Director for Planning and Structural Funds, participated at the meeting of the Monitoring Commission for the Territorial Enhancement Programme which was held in Funchal on Thursday. It was attended by representatives of the central, the European Commission and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, who assessed the implementation level of this operational programme of QREN 2007-2013.
The Regional Director for Planning and Structural Funds demonstrated an approval level of 53 million Euros, divided into two projects: the Renewal and Reorganisation of the Coastline of Horta, 1st phase, and the Environmental Renewal of the Hydrographic Basins of Furnas and Sete Cidades Crater Lakes. Rui Amann stressed that the level of expenditure actually made and paid provides a higher performance level than the one found on average in the context of this programme. The Regional Director also mentioned a new application regarding the Renewal and Reorganisation of the Madalena Port, which is under consideration, awaiting its approval soon.
With concern to the agenda item on future perspectives, the Azorean representative said that a “pilot project” on the management, destination and recovery of waste in the Azores is being prepared and mentioned the integrated context of the intervention and the strategic partnership level involving its future implementation.
