The FOTURIS project, an initiative of the Angra do Heroísmo City Hall, with the support of the Government of the Azores, was presented at the headquarters of that business association on Tuesday evening, at a session that counted upon the presence of the Regional Director for Labour, Vocational Training and Consumer Defence, Rui Bettencourt.
It is an initiative that allows students to attend distance learning courses, if they have computer with Internet connection as well as with flexible timetables and learning intensity.
The training in the management, environment, accounting, leadership, tourism, commerce and communication areas, comprising 11 courses to be developed between September 2009 and February 2010.
Speaking at presentation session of this pilot project, Rui Bettencourt pointed out the importance of this type of training – e-learning –for a Region such as the Azores.
Moreover, the Regional Director mentioned that having the specific knowledge of technology and the availability of resources is fundamental to achieve the success of an initiative such as this, a situation to which the Archipelago is able to provide a response, given the good information and communication technology network (ICT) available on every island and the experience already acquired in its use.
Regarding the project presented yesterday, training in Environmental Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Project Management and Leadership are expected to take place until the end of 2009. In turn, the training courses for 2010 will focus on Business Communication, Marketing Management and Digital Marketing, E-Commerce, Tourism and Regional Development, and Management and Strategic Planning.
