Regional Director for Employment meets with General Secretary of the Assembly of European Regions
The Regional Director for Employment, Vocational Training and Consumer Defence, Rui Bettencourt, and the General Secretary of Eurodyssey Programme meet on Monday with the General Secretary of the Assembly of European Regions, Klaus Klip. They will also meet with the Employment and Youth Commission and with “youth” ambassadors of that assembly. The meeting, which takes place in Brussels, is intended to establish links between Eurodyssey Programme, Youth Team initiatives and the European Employment System (EURES).
The Regional Government regards the transversal nature of Eurodyssey Programme and other professional mobility schemes for youngsters as vital to promote the said programme, at a time when Eurodyssey, a programme that is coordinated since 2006 by the Regional Government of the Azores, was honoured with the 2008 “Best Practice” award for professional training in Europe (The Best Practice of 2008).
The EURES network of advisers, to which the Archipelago of the Azores belongs, has more than 700 advisers and support centres in Europe and provides access to more than 800,000 jobs that are made available by about 20,000 companies.
This European project provides EURES with regional employment internships to promote synergies between the two programmes and is, therefore, one of the fundamental pillars of the development strategy of Eurodyssey that was outlined by the Azorean Presidency for 2009/2010.
