Permanent Labour Stability Programme supported integration of 401 Azoreans into companies' staff in 2018

The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training announced in Ponta Delgada that the Permanent Labour Stability Programme (ELP) "supported last year the integration of 401 Azoreans into companies' staff."

"With the financial supported provided under ELP, 401 new permanent jobs were created in 2018 in the Azores, representing a growth of 286% over the previous year," Paula Andrade said, expressing her satisfaction with this "significant increase."

Paula Andrade added that 47% of the 401 new employment contracts correspond to new job vacancies filled by young Azoreans, thus representing a growth of 102% in the permanent recruitment of young people in 2018."

"Regional entities, cooperatives or associations have been able to seize the support provided by the Regional Government's programmes," stated the Regional Director. He spoke Thursday on the sidelines of a visit to Solidaried’arte Açores - Association for Education and Integration through Art and Cultural, Social and Local Development, which converted three fixed-term contracts into contracts of indefinite duration under the scope of ELP-Conversion.

"The Regional Government has been reinforcing the investment in the qualifications and training of Azoreans, always safeguarding the support for companies in order to encourage the permanent recruitment of human resources," said Paula Andrade.

The ELP programme is guided by two lines of action. The first is aimed at promoting the creation of permanent jobs by providing financial support to employers that convert fixed-term employment contracts into permanent employment contracts, while the second is aimed the allocation of financial support to employers recruiting workers on contract of indefinite duration.

This programme created by the Regional Government is open to public and private companies, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and non-profit organisations.
