The number of Azorean workers reached an absolute record of 108.630 employees in the first term of this year, having its addition origin in a significant increase provided by the private enterprises; it indicates data today spread by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the same data, between January and March, 1.371 new jobs were created in the Region, which means that, in the first term of this year, there were created almost so many work posts as in 2007.
The rate of unemployment suffered an increase of 0,9 percentage points, between the first term of 2007 and the homologous period of this year, being in 5,6 percent, as a consequence of the significant increase of active working people in the age group of the 45 to 64 years old.
There was registered a very expressive increase of the activity of the Azoreans, since the number of active working people reached a historical value never checked before - 115.038 (more 2.571) –, which means an important passage of a situation of inactivity for a situation of activity, in individual in the belt of the 45 to 64 years old.
So, of the new 2.751 active working people that in the last 12 months showed to be available to work 1.599 already are, in fact, working, being predicted an absorption by the labour market of the remainder in the next two terms, with the consequent reduction of the rate of unemployment.
