Vítor Fraga conveys Regional Government's availability to cooperate with Cape Verde

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport conveyed today the Regional Government's availability to cooperate with Cape Verde's Government in the sharing of knowledge on several areas of governance.

Vítor Fraga spoke to journalists after receiving in audience the Minister of Infrastructures and Maritime Economy of Cape Verde on behalf of the President of the Government. The Regional Secretary conveyed the Regional Government's "availability to meet with the Government of Cape Verde" with the aim of sharing knowledge so that we may be able "to improve our situation in terms of connectivity and accessibility as well as to seize the potentialities of an effective partnership that is positive for both parties."

The government official also noted the importance of this meeting since the Azores and Cape Verde share many similarities in their geographical distribution, which leads to similar challenges in terms of mobility capacity.

"The sharing of knowledge is critical to find lasting and sustainable solutions that will meet various needs in the future," Vítor Fraga stressed, pointing out the case of air transport.

For the Regional Secretary, "there are several points of contact between the operations of SATA and those of TACV (Cape Verde Airlines)." The government official added that "an effective cooperation between both companies will be beneficial insofar as it will allow them to ensure the sustainability of their operations."

The Regional Secretary also mentioned the role that SATA can play for Cape Verdean emigrant communities.

"Taking into consideration that the main goal of SATA Internacional is to fly to the main tourism markets in Northern Europe, there is also the possibility of creating a route for the Cape Verdean diaspora in Holland," stressed Vítor Fraga. In this context, the government official mentioned the possibility of "creating an access point in the Azores for flight connections to Cape Verde."
