Vítor Fraga announces skills certification programme in technological areas

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced this afternoon that, under the Azores Digital and Technological Agenda (ADTA), the Government of the Azores will implement this year the "Edu Tech+" Programme in order to extend the triple certification of trainees in the field of technology.

This concept, already implemented at the School of New Technologies of Azores (ENTA) by CISCO, aims to ensure the access of youngsters to certification in different technologies and/or brands.

After visiting ENTA, Vítor Fraga revealed that, through this programme, we intend to "encourage post-secondary training on technologies and allow schools to provide triple certification which, in addition to vocational training, should be able to promote the development of skills in certain technological areas. Moreover, this programme is aimed at the creation of the physical conditions for the emergence of technological programmes in secondary and vocational training schools by supporting the acquisition the equipment, software and materials."

Triple certification through "Edu Tech +," represents an investment of 225,000 Euros over the next three years.

The Regional Secretary stressed that "this measure is included in the Azores Digital and Technological Agenda, which provides an estimated investment of approximately 40 million Euros under the next Community Support Framework."
